Growing Up Hip Hop “New York”

Happy Day lovers!

As the fall breezes it’s way in, so does a new season of shows! I recently attended the Growing Up Hip Hop New York edition before the show aired on WETV this week. Growing Up Hip Hop isn’t new to television; with its first reality focusing on the children of Atlanta’s hip hop scene. New York is the birth place of hip hop, so expect the children of those that’s been in the game of hip hop; Fat Joe, Kid Capri, Irv Gotti, Ja Rule, Flava Flav & Charlie Baltimore to put on for the city! As a born and raised New Yorker, it’s easy to relate watching the children of some of our favorite and iconic hip hop stars. We’ve probably even partied together throughout the years without recognizing who is who.

The premiere was hosted at The Paley Center for Media in New York City with Angie Martinez. Her show on WeTv; “The Untold Stories in Hip Hop” also makes a debut this fall showcasing what’s not covered on the power 105.1‘s evening air waves. Angie will be debuting a show focusing on all the stories we’ve heard from hip hops icons featuring Queen Latifa, Asap Rocky, J Cole and more. As a storyteller myself, it’s important the media gets the truth from the source’s mouth. I can already get an appreciation for a show that’s having those rumors justified and the truth set.

Hip Hop remains an influence for the culture. It’s more than music, as it is a lifestyle. Hip Hop is a being; the way you walk and the way you talk. It’s expressing what others’ think but never say all for the love. From the fashions to the dances; Hip Hop continues to make its influence on society. Enjoy this next season of shows while Hip Hop continues to grow!

Growing Up Hip Hop New York airs Thursdays at 9pm on WeTv

Great article! I had a chance to watch the first episode and, I’m already hooked! These are icons in hip hop..now to watch their sons & daughters navigate through the entertainment world – with their parents advice is entertaining on it’s own!
