“Don’t You Remember”

Although I am all for Adele 21 album, there is one song that makes me feel uneasy. When a relationship is over let it be that. I am saying that now with confidence at 21 because I have found strength to realize it was not meant to be. We have all been there almost begging that other person to stay, throwing memories of what we used to have as a way to save the relationship. The saddest part is not realizing when the relationship has reached that point it is already over.
“Don’t You Remember” reminds me too much of myself in the pathetic stage. This is why I’m not to fond of this song, but I still don’t skip it. The words are interesting for Adele begging her ex boyfriend who most likely left her for a man, it is as if she is saying don’t you remember being with a woman. If you have to go all out your way for someone what is the purpose when there is absolutely no hope. Listening to it right now actually is annoying because it is brining up memories of crying for him in his face saying these exact words “Baby please remember me once more” I really don’t like that.
The song does have a turning point towards the ending verses. Adele expresses how she gave him his space. She wants him to do him basically and she is hoping he will find himself in her. I understand her purpose for the song it just seems so cliche in a sense. “I hope you find the missing piece to bring you back to me”, one thing all people need to realize is love cannot be forced or bought. It is a depressing situation to be in, feeling as if this person you love so much just cannot realize how much you love them. They could, but in reality it will never change that person’s attitude might even push them away further.
I am rating this song a 4, pretty high for a song I felt was sad. This is true but it is to catchy and strong to let that be a reason to not rate it good.
