“Breathe in Breathe Out” by Kanye West

“Breathe in Breathe Out” dislike.  So, this was the song I really wanted to skip every time. The beat with the trumpets reminds me on New Orleans, which isn’t why I dint like it I think it is because of Ludacris. I really didn’t even want to try and understand what was the purpose of this song, I think it doesn’t even fit with the flow of the album. I am listening to it right now in my dining room, it’s really too much “I always had PHD pretty huge dick” like really Kanye?  Okay, 4th time listening again, I think again this is a spoof of all the “rapper” music.  Rappers honestly never rap about anything logical but yet claim to be the best rappers alive, selling millions of records and making so much money off of lyrics like “yea I got strippers and gold” then again who gives them the right to feel that way? All the people (like me) buying their cds!  I am still not sure why the title is named “Breathe in Breathe Out” because it really doesn’t click to me at all the lyrics I mean listening he does have the sound affects of a person sucking in air every time the chorus comes on. So maybe he is trying to tell society to take a breather after this song because it is releasing some significance. It is really hard to say, I just don’t like this song it is too cliché. Without any hesitation this song automatically receives a 1, no remorse at all this type of music, could explain why this song in my opinion didn’t get much play on the radio. It is even confusing now, this song because it has the same exact title from Mat Kearney song which would be “Breathe in Breathe out” no resemblance at all in the lyrics. Mat’s song is about love for a significant other while Kanye is apparent the significance of fame.  In a twisted way Kanye probably did that on purpose. It could be this way because usually people treat fame as a significant other, focusing on the money that seems to come with.

  1. Tiy,

I’m sorry you hate this song. Ha. I totally understand why you do and it does seem like “another cliche” rap song but i think there’s some unique qualities to it. Anyway you drive your point using lyrics, which is always helpful. Try and use lyrics as one of the ways you can describe liking/hating a song. It’s a BIG part of what makes a song therefore it’s a big part of what makes OR breaks a song as well. Something i wanted you to expand on besides the lyrics is think about the beat and oher aspects of the song, what else makes this unbearable? Is there anything else? And why do you hate Ludacris in this song? (Again) Is it the lyrics, beat, topic, etc. Also, i like your voice (it’s unique and fun) in the blog posts but try and be a little more formal, like you’re writing a review for a newspaper. The formality of your writing will help make the blog become more of a critique rather than a blog entry.

Lastly, PLEASE, please, please proofread your work and structure (make separate paragraphs for separate ideas). Dunphy really doesn’t like misspellings or simple grammar problems that can be fixed by simply reading over your work (you could even have someone else proofread. Just remember some of these tips/questions in the future; it will be very important in showing improvement on your future assignments.
