Kanye West “Workout Plan”

Kanye West’s “Workout Plan” is just that! I absolutely love this song, solely for its twisted comedic voice on how society makes us feel towards ourselves.  Of course when this song first came out I didn’t link  that at all, simply because I was about 14 and just enjoyed the beat of this song.  It’s such a moving song when it comes on you have to just stop everything and dance!  Around that age I actually was turning into this genre of music, hip hop due to the fact I was changing schools. Entering high school wasn’t a culture shock really but it was different because I went from my peers and I hanging posters of “Simple Plan” in our rooms to these students in high school talking about exactly this rapper Kanye West himself! Even my best friend loved all of Kanye West’s songs, so I had to give him a try. When I first heard this song I instantly knew all the words, especially the part when the different female voices come on, even the different accents I had mastered then. 8 years later things have definitely changed. I just think of how society hasn’t. The United States likes to link appearance to all types of successfulness more evident now in 2012. The fact this entire song is about working out to a specific plan to look right have the perfect life.  Flat stomach now you will win a basketball player. Isn’t that what we want to grow up and be a basketball player’s wife? (Females only) As a 21 year old female, I do honestly feel the constant pressure to look a certain way. I have to have a flat stomach, my clothes always have to be from the latest designers or else I wouldn’t live the luxurious life that I can only get from marrying a baller. Well I mean according to Mr. West in this song, the girl even states, “Now that I got Kanye West’s Workout Plan, I don’t gotta be with Ray Ray’s broke ass no more.” There’s the proof right there! Kanye West “Workout Plan” will receive a 5 from scale of 1-5 1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest.
